Well, I’ve done the draw…
Early Saturday morning… I’ve got 17 comments since I posted ‘a little celebration…’ thank you… it is so nice to have feed back… I hope I’ve answered everyone’s questions… so everyone’s names when onto a slip of paper… and three were drawn out…
1st Cheryl who gets the atc
2nd Kari who gets a ‘plus size’ inche
3rd emhowl who gets a ‘plus size’ inche too…
thanks again to everyone who left comments…
I’ll send the three of you an email.. then you can let me have your addresses
I’ll post a picture before I send them out… if I can find the camera… it went on a school trip yesterday…
another doll…
I’ve not been able to settle to any one thing in the last few days… however, I’ve have made another paper doll… I’ve named her my map doll…
I liked just following the line created by the paint colours and the texture of the tissue stuck to the card… it took very little thought… something I’ve been doing too muchof in regard to some pictures I’m suppose to be entering into an exhibition… the deadline is tomorrow.. June 15th…
this is one of them… I’m suppose to be showing three…
just a quick reminder please leave a comment and I enter you in my draw… see earlier post ‘a little celebration’…
What’s in My Journal…
What’s in My Journal
Odd things, like a button drawer
Mean things, fishhooks, barbs in your hand
But marbles too
A genius for being agreeable
Junkyard crucifixes, voluptuous discards
Space for knickknacks, and for Alaska
Evidence to hang me, or to beatify
Clues that lead nowhere, that never connect anyway
Deliberate obfuscation, the kind that takes genius
Chasma in character
Load omissions
Mornings that yawn above a new grave
Pages you know exist.
I collect quotes, poems and sayings… I scribble them everywhere… I add them to my art work… I write them in my journals… I even have a word document where I copy and paste ‘jottings’ I find online… well I’ve decided to use the above poem in connection with my latest piece of fabric…
I realise everyone reads something different into each piece of writing/art… so I’m not going to say much about this poem… on the surface it seemed so me… i have boxes of discards / knickknacks… a button tin.. lots of marbles (I use them in my indigo dyeing)…. there’s hundreds of fishing hooks in this house… I love Alaska (but have never been… the reality might be different)… that said I’m not going to say any more even though other lines do say something to me…
Anyway it seemed to fit with the piece of black/white (with a hint of red) fabric I’m working on at the moment… the ‘plus size’ inches that I’m working on also need to include words so… it’s a questions of which to pick… can you think of a way to attach the whole poem?
As yet without the hint of red… but cut up ready to make into ATCs…
Thank you… &… it’s arrived…
Just a quick post to say thank you to everyone who has left comments… I’ve tried to answer your questions… hope I’ve managed to explain things clearly…
some of you may remember that the ‘pink mini’ was off on it’s travels… well it’s arrived… check out Jude’s blog Spirit Cloth (such a great name) I’m really looking forward to seeing what Jude does with it… this could almost fit in with the refashion project I’m involved with… it’s certainly recycling…
I’m trying to create photo albums of some of my work… so that you can see how it develops… but my photographic/computer skills are letting me down… maybe I should ask my children..
A little celebration…
to carry on with my happy dance a little longer… I thought I might do a prize draw (thanks Kari for the suggestion)… the picture below is a piece of fabric I’m working on at the moment…
yes… I know it’s still black and white… but I’ll add a little colour when I start stitching.. I intend to make a few different things with this… the first page in my Bead Journal Project … an ATC for Helen Cowan… a few ‘plus size’ inches for a swap over at Fiber Art Traders (a yahoo group)… so I will make an extra ATC and an extra few ‘plus size’ inches… if you would like the chance to win one please leave a comment… then next Friday I will draw out the winners… there you are a little prize draw to help me celebrate a little…
Happy Dance…
Just had to post again tonight… I’m finding this really hard to believe but I’ve just had a look at my blog stats… and today has reached two firsts, for me, I’ve had over one hundred hits today, 111 just a couple of minutes ago and altogether I’ve had over one thousand hits… really incredible as it seems I’m still new to this and on a very steep learning curve… though I’m beginning to wish I’d used a different provider as I can’t seem to create photo albums here… but I’ll keep looking……… so a big thank you to everyone who has taken the time to visit my blog…. I’m doing a happy dance…
Just a colorful picture for you to look at… i must say i do like posts with pictures in them.. I’ve got my paints and pastels out in an attempt to stop myself using black and white all the time…
thanks again to everyone who’s visited… I’m thinking that I should offer a swap/trade or something to celebrate… I’ll think about this tonight… watch this space…
Refashion…
Well I finally put my doodling pens down, while I didn’t pick up a needle and thread I did pick up a pair of jeans and a seam ripper… I’ve started refashioning a pair of jeans that I intend to make into a skirt… the jeans are an old pair of my husbands so they are nicely worn in with a few paint stains too…
I’m planning on making a ‘new’ piece of fabric out of lots of scrapes from other projects… the following two pictures are the back and front of my ‘peace’ jeans …
I made these for an evening out with a group of other Mums from the local playgroup… however, as that was at least 10 years ago! they don’t fit me very well now… but friends daughters now ask to borrow them ! they have certainly been to a few parties…
so with the fabric/thread stash I already got I’m sure I’ll be able to make a new skirt without buying anything new…
Black and White…
I seem unable to work with colour at the moment everything I do is covered with doodles…. even this paper doll I’ve made is done in black and white…
The pattern for the doll is from Pamela Hastings ‘Transformative Doll Making’ Class…
